RCD Performance

For anyone considering doing business with River city Diesel, here’s a quick story. Ordered a set of connecting rods to accommodate steel pistons back in March of this year. At the time Kill Devil Diesel was on backorder and still currently is on backorder. Adam, the sales guy assured me that they had a set of rods that are engineered to fit steel pistons. Fast forward engine block has been prepped and balanced only to find out they’re actually billet connecting rods for a 20+ 6.7 power stroke and are nearly .0120 too long. Furthermore, they don’t have the correct connecting rods and cant give me a straight answer of when and or if they plan to do some. After months of not returned emails on returned calls, we finally got our money back, giving RCD an ultimatum. Never mind everything will have to be completely rebalanced and hauled back to the machine shop. Been a long time, supporter of RCD and had countless parts in my race truck from them. Pretty disappointed with this whole process. You can’t run a business on I don’t knows, and I’m not sures.

They sent the wrong coolant, when I tried to return added a $50 restock fee and wouldn't provide the return shipping. Update, they reached out to me a few days later and offered to return the coolant at no additional charge.

I purchased a short block from RCD on 03/21/2022 and experienced numerous issues from the beginning. Due to the time required to source additional parts and limited availability to work on the vehicle, several months passed before I was able to address the issues further. I ultimately sent the engine back to RCD on 04/19/2023 for inspection and repair after several months of communicating. I was charged approximately $1,300 for the inspection and correction of a piston coating issue caused by them! At that time, I was informed that no other problems were found. Fast forward to 2026, the engine currently has roughly 15,000 miles on it and coolant is now rapidly entering the oil. I discovered a crack in the block that appears to have gradually expanded over time from their machining process! Since discovering this issue, I have made attempts to contact RCD to discuss the situation and seek support, but my inquiries have gone unanswered. At this point, I feel I have been completely ignored despite the significant history of problems with this engine and the substantial costs I have already incurred.

I’m pretty happy. First of all, Chris is awesome and has had great communication with me during this entire time. Yes the wrong pump was sent to me, buttttt, before I left a bad review and made a few phone calls the new pump was already on its way. Way to go above and beyond. You guys do it right! Thank you RCD.

Broke down 2500 miles from home. Cp4 failed. Called and salesperson convinced me that I would not have to flush my tank if I bought their 6k kit. Bought it, professionally installed it. Did not make it 1k miles and their new "modified" cp4 failed (broke in two) leaving me stranded in northern Canada. Cost me over 4k getting truck towed home. Sent in parts for warranty and rcd claimed my fuel was contaminated. Refused to warranty! DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. Horrible customer service and horrible knowledge and advice. They do not stand by their products or advice. Just looking to make a quick sale. Owner has been sued multiple times including by the Dept of Justice under different shell company name. All out there in public records. Buyer beware!!!
